What kind of woods do you use?
Our shop employs hardwoods sourced from both Hawaii and the mainland United States. We have a particular fondness for native Hawaiian Monkey-pod and Koa, which are prized picks especially when used in furniture pieces. Other woods such as Walnut, Oak, Maple, Alder, Mahogany, Ash and Cherry are all commonly found in our shop. We are also privileged to have access to a variety exotic and figured woods which can be made available to our customers on a limited basis.
What is the ordering process?
Firstly, we recommend contacting us directly via email or phone call to give us an idea of what you're looking for. From there, we will guide you through the process:

Consultation:
Scheduling an initial consultation will provide us with a starting point. If you have an idea, we can help expand on its possibilities before delving deeper into the design process. Any inspiration or themes that resonate with you are great guidance in achieving something you can call uniquely your own.
Drawing:
Once a we've determined a direction to go in, we can begin preparing a design using hand-drawn sketches or computer-aided design (CAD) software to provide you with a conceptual rendering of your project, along with a cost estimate.
For designers, we request that you provide us with schematics of your own.
Contract:
Once the specifics have been decided on, we'll submit a proposal that outlines what is being produced. For those technologically inclined, electronic signing is available. Please feel free to ask any questions or request changes upon reviewing the contract. Once signed, we will require a deposit to begin fabrication.
What type of finishes do you use?
We offer a variety of finishes to suit the needs of the project. This includes a wide assortment of custom stains, glazes, and tints. The most common is Krystal by ML Campbell, a water-resistant post-catalyzed conversion varnish that's often referred to as a sprayable lacquer. For a strong and durable finish, look no further. It is sleek, and resistant to spills, ring marks, and light scratches.
We also offer other types finishes that can be reapplied at home if requested, Oil-based, urethane-based, and wax/oil combinations.. Commonly usedproducts we use for these finishes include Osmo, Rubiomonocoat, Watco Danish Oil, Tung Oil, and Minwax polyurethane. By offering a range of finishes, we allow our customers the ability to choose a finish that meets their specific needs.
